Café Cino

Conservation rules limited the number of fixings on a historic stone façade; solid gold-finish letters were mounted on a concealed carrier.

Constraint

An illuminated box was not permitted on a 19th-century stone façade, yet the brand still had to be visible at night.

Brass-look solid letters were set on a hidden aluminium rail with warm-white halo lighting behind it. Only four fixings touch the stone.

Municipal approval was granted on the first submission. At night the halo washes the stone texture and frames the brand.
